Click & Collect

Click & Collect (BOPIS: Buy Online, Pick up In Store) is a way of shopping in which products are ordered / paid for on an e-commerce site or app and picked up at a physical store. There is no need to wait for delivery and no shipping fee, so it benefits both consumers and retailers.

QR codes are ideal for pickup authentication in Click & Collect. At the store counter, simply showing the QR code that was sent by email when the order was completed is enough to complete both identity verification and the handover of the product. When a staff member scans the QR code, the order number, the product list, and the payment status are displayed instantly, so manual matching is no longer needed.

As part of an omnichannel strategy, more and more stores place QR codes on their shelves to create a path such as "if it is out of stock, scan to order online, then pick it up at another store".
