URL Shortener

URL shorteners redirect long URLs through short URLs. Services like bit.ly and TinyURL are representative. Shortening URLs stored in QR codes keeps the QR code version (size) small.

Some dynamic QR codes internally use URL shortening mechanisms. One risk is that shortener service discontinuation invalidates links.
