Universal Design

Universal design aims to create products and environments usable by the widest range of people without adaptation. Unlike barrier-free design that removes existing obstacles, universal design prevents barriers from arising in the first place.

For QR codes, this means placing codes at wheelchair-accessible heights, adding tactile indicators for visually impaired users, ensuring sufficient color contrast, and making destination web pages fully accessible with screen reader support and keyboard navigation.
