Sandbox

A sandbox is a safe test environment isolated from the production environment. Just as children can play freely in a sandbox (sandpit), you can test new features, check how APIs behave, and run security verification without affecting production data or systems.

When introducing QR code payment, you run tests in the sandbox environment provided by the payment service. On test API endpoints where no real money moves, you verify the whole flow of QR code generation, scanning, payment processing, and refund processing. Testing directly in the production environment carries the risk of erroneous payments, so verification in a sandbox beforehand is essential.

Dynamic QR code platforms also provide sandbox-like features. The workflow is to check a change of redirect destination in advance with a test QR code and, if there are no problems, apply it to the production QR code. If you mistakenly change the redirect destination of an already printed QR code, accidents occur in which every scan lands on an unintended page, so verification in a test environment is important.
