Logistics encompasses processes such as transportation, storage, handling, and packaging of goods from production to consumer. QR codes are used in logistics for package identification, real-time tracking, and automated sorting.

A typical application prints QR codes on shipping labels containing tracking number, destination, route, and handling instructions. Scanning at each relay point updates the package's real-time location. QR codes that carry the information needed for delivery can support minimum operations even during system outages.

Some large distribution centers use high-speed cameras to read QR codes on conveyor belts for automated sorting. Such sorting calls for standardized print quality and placement. GS1-compliant QR codes are used for inter-company data exchange.
