Cloud computing provides servers, storage, databases, and networking on-demand over the internet. AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure are the three major providers. Most QR code management platforms run on cloud infrastructure, eliminating the need for users to maintain their own servers.

Cloud-based QR management offers scalability and availability. Auto-scaling handles traffic spikes during campaigns, and multi-datacenter distribution ensures service continuity even if one datacenter fails.

However, cloud dependency carries risk. Major cloud outages have occurred multiple times - the 2021 AWS outage took down numerous web services for hours. If a QR management service is affected, all dynamic QR codes temporarily stop working. Mission-critical applications should consider multi-cloud configurations or static URL fallbacks.
