Cloud computing provides servers, storage, databases, and networking on-demand over the internet. Providers include AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. QR code management platforms that run on cloud infrastructure eliminate the need for users to maintain their own servers.

Cloud-based QR management offers scalability and availability. Where configured, auto-scaling handles traffic spikes during campaigns, and a multi-datacenter configuration can keep the service running even if one datacenter fails.

However, cloud dependency carries risk. Major cloud outages have occurred multiple times - the 2021 AWS outage impacted a number of AWS services for hours. If a QR management service is affected, its dynamic QR codes can temporarily stop working. Options for mission-critical applications include multi-cloud configurations and static URL fallbacks.
