BLE
BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) is a low-power wireless standard introduced in Bluetooth 4.0. It runs for years on a coin battery, optimized for intermittent small data transmission.
BLE beacons broadcast identification signals to nearby smartphones. While QR codes require active scanning, BLE detects users automatically on approach. Typical integration: QR code at entrance launches an app, then BLE beacons automatically push floor information and coupons.
QR codes are visual, intuitive, and zero-cost. BLE enables auto-detection, background operation, and distance-based graduated information. They complement rather than compete.
