Printing

Printing is the process of outputting QR codes from digital data onto physical media such as paper, labels, and signage. Unlike web-displayed QR codes, printed codes cannot be corrected after output, making pre-print quality verification critical.

Three standards ensure print quality. Size: 15 mm per side is the practical minimum; smaller codes challenge smartphone autofocus. Resolution: 300 dpi or higher ensures sharp module boundaries. Material: matte paper reduces flash reflections and improves scanning; glossy paper risks washout.

The most common printing mistake is scaling up a low-resolution PNG. Raster images develop jagged edges when enlarged. For print, generate QR codes as SVG or vector PDF. When printing in CMYK, RGB colors may shift, so monochrome black (K100%) and white is the most reliable choice.
