Browser
A web browser is software that renders HTML web pages. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge are the major browsers, with Chrome holding roughly 65% global market share. In the QR code workflow, the browser is the final destination that opens the scanned URL, making it the starting point of the user experience.
Browser behavior after QR scanning varies by OS and app. iOS Camera opens Safari; Android's Google Lens opens Chrome. Many payment and social media apps use in-app browsers, which raise security concerns: the URL bar may be hidden, and cookies or session data may be shared with the app. For security-sensitive contexts, opening in the default browser is recommended.
Browser-based QR code generators (like Qraft) require no app installation and process everything client-side. Since data never leaves the browser, there is no risk of input URLs or text leaking to external servers. From a privacy perspective, browser-based tools offer greater transparency than native apps.
