Biometrics
Biometrics verifies identity using unique physical characteristics - fingerprints, faces, irises, voiceprints, vein patterns. Unlike passwords, biometric data cannot be separated from the person, making impersonation difficult.
QR codes combined with biometrics achieve both security and convenience. Event venues register face photos at ticket purchase and verify both QR code and facial recognition at entry - preventing ticket transfer fraud that QR codes alone cannot stop.
Airports are linking boarding pass QR codes with facial recognition. Registering face data at check-in allows automatic verification at security and boarding gates by simply showing the QR code.
Privacy considerations are critical - biometric data is irreplaceable personal information. Systems combining QR codes and biometrics must encrypt biometric storage, minimize retention periods, and clarify usage purposes. On-device authentication (matching biometrics locally without server storage) minimizes privacy risk.
