Quishing
Quishing is a portmanteau of QR (Quick Response) and phishing, referring to phishing scams exploiting QR codes. Through emails, SMS, paper flyers, or fake QR codes placed in public spaces, victims are directed to fraudulent sites to steal personal and credit card information.
Traditional phishing emails display URLs as text, making suspicious URLs somewhat noticeable. QR codes visually hide URLs, preventing link verification before scanning and increasing vulnerability. Developing the habit of always checking displayed URLs after scanning is essential.
