QR Code Payment App

QR code payment apps are smartphone applications that process payments by having store registers scan a QR code displayed on the phone, or by the user scanning the store's QR code. In Japan, PayPay, d-barai, Rakuten Pay, au PAY, and Merpay are representative examples.

There are two payment methods: "store scan" where the user presents a QR code, and "user scan" where the user scans the store's QR code. These apps also support person-to-person transfers, commonly used for splitting bills and reimbursements.
