Module

A module is the smallest black or white square unit that makes up a QR code, also called a cell. A black module represents binary "1" and a white module represents "0"; data is encoded through combinations of these modules.

The number of modules varies by QR code version: version 1 has 21×21 (441) modules, while version 40 has 177×177 (31,329) modules.
